History of our Church:
Union Congregational Church is a congregation within the United Church of Christ. (The United Church of Christ came into being in 1957 with the union of two Protestant denominations: the Evangelical and Reformed Church and the Congregational Christian Churches.)
This congregation was organized in April, 1885. The sanctuary was built on land donated by the founder of the City of Tavares, Maj. Alexander H. St. Clair Abrams. The sanctuary was enlarged in 1988.
As the first church in the City of Tavares, we hosted the people of Tavares who united in worshiping together.
At Union Congregational Church, you will find a warm, friendly church that embraces people from many different denominations as brothers and sisters in Christ.
You welcome as a guest or as a new member. If we can be of service, please call on us. We're neighbors, and we want to get to know you.
